Grand Knight's Corner #2
Brothers,
We had our first social / fund raiser / pass the gavel on Wednesday the 27th of August. This was a great family event and everyone seemed to have a great time. Fr. Tran kicked it off by blessing the food prepared by Brothers Vinny Misuraca, Tim Romutis and Scott Steinkirchner. Our objectives for this event was to have families enjoy the night with our Knights family, not cook, and offset the cost of the event by donations. I believe our goals were achieved.
Our Worthy DD Jay McCarthy and his wife Margie send a note thanking our council for the invite and saying they felt the warmth of them being invited as part of the family. For them it was like going out for the night as a couple.
Although desserts were welcome especially a birthday cake for 15 year-old Richard Calhoun, the idea of kicking back, not cooking and donating what you would spend at Mickey D’s was generally accomplished. The only difference was better food and better beverages. :-)
I meant what I said at the installation, that you are my family and it was great to give out the family of the month and Knight of the month with families attending and not just the Knights. We are going to have more family events that can bring us together and at the same time generate donations to offset costs and build up funds for charities.
What I need from you is to spread the word.
This year we are going to have FUN (Fraternity, Unity, Now) !!!!
Our goal this year is to make Brothers and families want to come to these events and not feel obligated. We want our kids to ask when are we going again and not do we have to… We have a lot of creativity in our council and going forward we plan on exploring ideas to keep the family united.
